Spring/Summer 2020 WebinarsAIRUM presented a series of webinars in April and May to support members and their institutions as they moved online during the COVID-19 pandemic. Thank you to our webinar presenters. Panelists Meredith Fergus (Minnesota Office of Higher Education), Kristin McKinley (Lawrence University), Jennifer Pearson Hennen (Anoka-Ramsey Community College & Anoka Technical College), and Laura Fingerson (Strategic Education, Inc.) launched our webinar series on April 21st with a discussion of "IR/IE Fundamentals in a Time of Rapid Change," fielding your questions in this interactive session and discussing strategies for balancing uncertainties with solid IR practices. On May 7th Nichole Petersen (Century College) presented her AIRUM 2019 Best Presentation winner, "The Pivotal Role of Institutional Research and Meeting HLC Criteria 4.B.," discussing how to build a sustainable culture of assessment within an institution's co-curricular offices attuned to meeting accreditation criteria, with lessons learned and suggestions for how IR professionals can fit into and sustain this work over the long term. On May 19th, Drew Thiemann, the Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness at Bellarmine University, and James Cousins, Analyst Manager at Rapid Insight, presented "Recasting IR's Role as an Institutional Effectiveness Consultancy: One University's Case Study," illustrating how Bellarmine University's Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness crafted and implemented a strategy for data democratization, adopted innovative practices to support this plan, and raised the office's visibility as a decision-support and institutional effectiveness consultancy for stakeholders across the institution.
