DIRECTOR OF INSTITUTIONAL RESEARCH AND REPORTING

Southwest Minnesota State University (SMSU) invites applications for a Director of Institutional Research and Reporting position to begin April 1, 2010 or a date to be negotiated. SMSU, one of seven universities in the Minnesota System, provides a diverse curriculum of liberal arts and selected professional programs.  The University is located in the town of Marshall (pop. 13,000), in rural southwest Minnesota, 155 miles from Minneapolis/St. Paul and 90 miles from Sioux Falls, SD. 

The Director will provide overall leadership for institutional research and reporting by engaging in data retrieval and organization, analysis, interpretation and reporting for a variety of institutional and public purposes that support university planning, policy and public accountability needs. 
 
Minimum Qualifications:
·        Bachelor’s degree in discipline that emphasizes statistics, research methods and/or information systems.
·        Three years of experience in statistical research, data analysis and interpretation, and developing reports for internal and external audiences.
·        Experience with database querying, spreadsheet software and relational databases. 
·        Experience with SPSS or a similar statistical analysis package.
·        Must have an understanding of and appreciation for liberal education.  The University is committed to fostering a global perspective. The successful candidate will have demonstrated ability to work with persons from diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications:
·        Master’s degree.
·        Experience in statistical research, data analysis and interpretation, and developing reports for internal and external audiences.
·        Experience with SPSS PASW Modeler or other data mining software tool.
·        Higher education experience.
